Including acupuncture, following are the six therapeutic techniques used.
1. Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a method of embedding needles into the upper layers of skin, muscles and subcutaneous tissues at specific points for therapeutic and preventive purposes.
Traditional acupuncture is based on the belief that an energy, or “life force”, flows through the body in channels called meridians. This life force is known as Qi (pronounced “Chee”).
Practitioners who adhere to traditional beliefs about acupuncture believe that when Qi does not flow freely through the body, this can cause illness. They also believe acupuncture can restore the flow of Qi, and so restore health.
2. Moxibustion
Moxibustion (Chinese: 灸 ; pinyin: jiǔ) is a traditional Chinese medicine therapy using moxa, or mugwort herb. Mugwort has long been considered an herbal ally for women with particular benefit in regulating the menstrual cycle and easing the transition to menopause. It increases the flow of Qi, provides effective support for liver, immune system disorders, cleansing kidney, gall stones etc.
There are two types of using Moxa:
Direct Moxa: The moxa is placed directly on the skin.
Indirect Moxa Something is placed between the burning Moxa and the skin: slices of Ginger, Garlic, Salt, Aconite, Pepper, and mud.
3. Tui Na Massage
Tui Na is an ancient form of massage and has been used in China from thousands of year. In Tui Na various hand techniques are used with good combination with acupuncture and other methods.
Tui Na therapy is now becoming a more commonplace remedy method because of its attention on specific problems in place of supplying a preferred remedy. This method could be very useful in lowering the ache of neck pain.
4. Cupping
Medical cupping is a therapy using glass cups and a flame to create a vacuum or suction on the skin. The cup is vacuumed to a specific acupressure point or muscle knots and left on for 5-10 minutes. The cup is vacuumed to certain acupressure points or muscle knots and is then moved up and down a meridian or across a muscle fiber, all while still attached to the skin. The cup is vacuumed to certain point or knots and is then quickly removed and replaced several times on the same area in order to relieve muscle tension and release body toxins.
Traditional Chinese Medicine states that it warms the meridians and promotes the flow of Qi and blood.
5. Chinese Herbs
Obviously, Chinese herbal medicine consists of herbs, and mostly, herbs are products of plants. 85% of herbs come from plants. The rest of them come from minerals and animals.
- Ginseng (prevents stress)
- Tang kuei (improves circulation + relieves pain)
- Ma huang (helps breathing)
- Licorice (helps digestion + increases effectiveness of other herbs)
- Ginger (helps digestion + circulation)
- Cinnamon (improves circulation)
- Astragalus (improve the immune system)

- Chinese Nutrition
Chinese nutrition is a method of consuming less calories. In Chinese nutrition, a balanced eating includes all five flavours; spicy (warming), bitter (cooling), sour (cooling), salty (cooling), and sweet (strengthening). In traditional Chinese medicine, good diet is considered as a first line defense for health. Foods that are less processed are recommended for a good health.
